Dr. Candy Fresacher CV

Candy Fresacher has been teaching full time at various vocational colleges throughout Vienna for the past 17 years. At present she is head of the English Department at the Advertising Academy of Vienna and offers seminars to teachers and businesses throughout Austria. She has recently joined the board of TEA – Teachers of English in Austria - and is the editor of the ELT News, their journal. In addition, together with an Austrian business partner, she manages her own company which assists commercial enterprises in various fields. She has a Bachelor’s Degree summa cum lauda and a Master’s Degree in English from California State University of Long Beach and completed her Ph.D. in April of 2006 at the University of Vienna, Department of American Studies.

Although she was born and raised in America, she has been living in Austria for the past 30 years. Before entering the teaching field, she worked in various office positions; including acting as research assistant, administrative assistant, advertising director and office manager in various businesses, including at the United Nations. This has put her in the unique position of being able to teach from a practical standpoint and has made her fully aware of the skills needed to be efficient in the business world. She is also a freelance writer and photographer and has presented slide shows of her travels at various venues.

She has presented various sessions at numerous conferences throughout Europe and in America during the past ten years, including ECIS (European Council of International Schools) conferences.
